My love

The many faces of Miss Zoe

Cookies, cookies and more cookies

So last night was the annual Cookie party, bring a few dozen cookies, a wrapped ornament, and take home cookies and an unwrapped ornament!
I think it all went off without a hitch....or something like that!
Here are a few pics- first off my delicious hazlenut dream bars, let me tell all of you who may not know- I dont cook, I dont bake, I dont broil, or boil or "cut in butter" as the recipe called for...but I did it and they turned out wonderfully (if I dont say so myself!)
Next are someone elses cookies, Im guessing my friend Nichole, because she is very creative!
And last but never least my wonderful friend Beth- it wouldnt be a party without her- or me for that matter!
so thanks all you gals that made it to the party, good cookies and meatballs (mmmm), and good friends-

got to love this girl- check out her blog (blogalicious) and see her daughter.......she wonders where Clara gets her cheesiness from:)

thoughts

Okay so last night I was thinking about my grandpa- he died a few years ago just after Thanksgiving. No one was suppose to make it and it turned out to be one of the biggest Thanksgivings my grandma had, one person was Zach. He was suppose to be with his family and ended up having the time to come with me and eat. My grandpa sat with us at the kids table and I remember him being so red and sweaty and hot.
I miss him so much and wonder what he would be like with my kids. He use to just look at you and you knew to stop exactly what you were doing! He use to let me crawl in his lap and he would brush my hair. I can still hear his voice.
He use to smoke a pipe but quit when my gram got breast cancer, everytime I pass someone smoking I have to linger...for a couple seconds.
I feel so bad for my gram too- granted she is so busy and has carried on well but she tells me that when she gets hurt she will curse at him or talk to him at night..she always wakes up at the time things happened too.
I remember that night, we got the call and headed straight for the emergency room, we had to wait for my uncle and aunt to show before my gram and great aunt would tell us anything. I remember them saying he was gone and my knee just starting shaking like an earthquake. I remember having to go to the bathroom and seeing the peramedics sitting at the desk- and of course it was Oliver....I made his coffee everyday! But seeing him I knew that my grandpa couldnt have been in better hands.
I miss him alot and wish he was around.
My Grandma knows he is around, I dont know how I feel but I do know I miss him, he was my favorite and I miss him.

Life is like a roll of t.p.

It has been a couple days since Ive filled everyone in on the Meenach household!!
We went and got our Christmas tree on Sat. and put it up!! Zoe tried with all her might to get the topper on but just couldnt reach! We did get it on though and here is the finished product- crooked Ol tree and everything!

What an angel RIGHT!

I tried getting my husband to get a picture of me and the girls but had to resort to me taking a picture of myself with one girl- turned out pretty cute- huh!

Im also happy to say that I found a little girl to donate too...she loves dancing and music and is very girly! Sounds kind of familiar! Anyway, we went to target yesterday and got her a boombox and some clothes! It feels great to buy for someone who needs it!

Lets see oh yes...we watched a show last night ( I just forgot which one) and it got me thinking that I already feel old and life is over- I know there are many more years of happiness, sadness and such but I feel like its almost over:( Anyway my husband gave me a quote that I must share to brighten everyones day-

"Life is like a roll of toilet paper, you keep taking pieces and it never makes a dent, then you get to the middle and almost the entire roll is gone!" ( or something like that)

Its true if you think about it- I guess I just need to start enjoying every minute and spend all of my millions of dollars now and tell everyone I love them and not worry about the small stuff!

anyway, thats about all hope everyone is enjoying their Monday and I think I will see you all at the cookie party!

CHALLENGE

Your challenge is to write a story only using Christmas carols!

Here goes:

Grandma saw mommy kissing Santa Claus up on the roof top.
It was a silent night.
I yelled " all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" as I was walking in a winter wonderland and jackfrost was nipping at my nose.
Mommy said "Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing- 5 golden rings".
To which Santa replied-
"Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night".
" Your a mean one" I yelled as he jumped on his sleigh.
Rudolph was rockin around the Christmas tree as santa pulled away.
Rudolphs chestnuts were roasting on an open fire as yultide carols were being sung by a choir.
"Rudolph the red nosed reindeer" Santa yelled, "its Christmas time in the city".
So laying his hove aside of his nose, and giving a nod up the chimney he rose.
Santa yelled out their names through his white winter beard.
He looked down at the roof top and....
grandma got run over by a reindeer!

Happy singing

So, do you remember as a child going with grandma or mom and dad and picking out an Angel at the Angel tree? Well I do, I would go with my gram smith and my cousin and we would pick out an angel and go buy gifts! The list would have sizes for clothes and maybe a wish for a toy, and the age of the child. You could choose whatever you wanted for the child, wrap it up and bring it back to the tree.
Well to my suprise things are done much differently these days.
I decided to take Zoe this year to pick out an angel! SO we head off to the mall, and to my suprise here is a lady sitting at a table with the angels, one side boys one side girls- no sizes, no age, just requests for toys AND no wrapping either-
What- are you kidding me, this is a time for giving and being generous and all these kids want are BRATZ dolls (which I refuse to buy for anyone). SO I walked away. I didnt feel good doing it but IM really upset!
I wanted to show my daughter what it was like when I was a little girl but now I have to come up with another plan.....
I guess costco chooses a family and donates to them, maybe I will do that! I still want to take Zoe somewhere and show her what it is like to give to someone who needs it- if any of you have any ideas please share!

When it rains.....it pores:)

So here I am visiting the great town of wenatchee- great friends good family and two children! A two year old and a 6 week old. Never have I traveled this far ( 2 1/2 hours) by myself with them and the trip there- fantastic!! Well on the way home I was stopped by a road crew blowing up rocks- 20 minute delay- okay, so we wait the twenty minutes. We pass the flagger and of course it has been 2 hours since I fed the newborn so its time to eat she screams- we make it to the rest stop and POW its closed, so we pull over! Then in the middle of feeding my two year old yells POTTY MOMMY, POTTY MOMMY- great- I say. So I give her the option to go outside- NO WAY so I say " lets put on your sisters diaper and just this one time you can go in a diaper" NO WAY aaaaaaaaaaaa- what do I do...well, there is a fruit stand up the road! So we hop in the car, get to the fruit stand and I plead my case- YES they say, you can use the toilet!!!
okay, I think we are good to go...but of course we get behind three truckers!!!
So long story short our 2 1/2 hour trip ends up taking us almost four and we make it home to a loving husband and father and a batch of peanut butter cookies from the neighbor!
I guess there is always a rainbow at the end of a rainstorm- HUH?
